SDS BinderWorks Services
The services listed below are the result of years of experience working with safety professionals. To learn more about the scope of our services and what we offer, please read through the following descriptions.
+Easy to Use - Convenient Access - User Control
- Unlimited 24/7 Access
Subscribers have access to the user-friendly SDS BinderWorks website via company-specific login credentials.
- Authorized Administrators
Subscribers create a Primary User Account. The individual assigned as the primary user has the ability to create new users and assign access permissions for any or all employees at their facility. Since many subscribers create more than one custom SDS inventory, this feature also gives the primary user the ability to assign access to specific inventories and SDS Update Notifications.
- Advanced Product Search
Search by Manufacturer Name, Product Name, Product #, CAS #, or SDS BinderWorks Control #.
+Custom Inventory Creation & Management
- Initial Inventory Creation by SDS BinderWorks Staff
Your subscription is activated and ready to use immediately upon registration and payment, but the enrollment process doesn't end there. Unlike many SDS management providers who collect your payment and leave the rest up to you, or hit you with expensive subscription add-ons, our up front subscription pricing includes assistance from the SDS BinderWorks staff in building your initial SDS inventory. Simply provide us with a list of the products you use and we'll cross-reference it against our current database. If we don't have it, we'll contact the manufacturer to obtain it.
- SDS Search Requests Per Year
Once your initial electronic SDS inventory is created, you can add new products to the inventory at any time. If you can't find a product in our database, let us know and we'll find it for you. Depending on the subscription level you select, you will receive a set number of free search requests per year (i.e. 10, 25 or 50). Additional SDS requests are available to subscribers for an additional fee and can be purchased online at any time from the subscriber dashboard. The current number of search requests available to your company is also available on the dashboard.
- Number of Active Inventories
Every company has a different organizational structure. Whether you are a small company that wants to create and manage a single Master Inventory, or your company is large and SDS information needs to be managed in custom inventories for various departments, divisions, jobsites, buildings, shops, trades, etc., there is no limit to the number of electronic inventories you can create, store and manage in your SDS BinderWorks account. SDS BinderWorks continuously searches for updated SDSs and these updates are automatically applied to each of your applicable Active inventories.
- Inactive (Historical) Inventories
Switch your inventories from Active to Inactive to preserve your product list and SDS versions for historical purposes. SDS versions will be locked so future version updates will not be applied. This feature is useful for many applications, like a construction company that wants to keep an historical record of the products used on a completed project.
- Customer Support / Orientation
We're not just an online collection of safety data sheets. We're here to help you manage your SDS information. All new subscribers are encouraged to participate in a one-on-one orientation with our staff.
- Export Product Details to Excel Spreadsheet
Do you have a need to work with your product list(s) in spreadsheet format? No problem. You can easily export any or all of your custom inventories to an Excel file.
+Updates & Archives
- Quarterly Email Updates (Real-Time Dashboard Notification)
We are continuously updating our database and you are notified when newer versions of your SDSs are available. Notifications are available real-time on the subscriber dashboard and are emailed to applicable users within your facility on a quarterly basis.
- Access to SDS Archives
Our website displays the most current version we have available for each SDS. Previous archived versions, if applicable, are available for viewing and download as well.
- Automated Archive Tracking
OSHA requires companies to keep a record of the hazardous products their employees are exposed to for 30 years, as well as when and where the product was used. To help ease the challenge of complying with this requirement, whenever you remove a product from any of your active SDS inventories, the product name, SDS version and inventory name are automatically saved to your archive list for future reference and retrieval.
+Globally Harmonized System (GHS)
- Globally Harmonized System (GHS) Ready
OSHA's HazCom 2012 aligns the previous Hazard Communication Standard with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS). The standard that gave workers the right to know, now gives them the right to understand. GHS incorporates standardized pictograms, Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and labels. Phased in compliance dates (December 1, 2013 to June 1, 2016) have been set for employers, manufacturers and distributors. Please visit the OSHA website for more details (www.osha.gov/dsg/hazcom). The SDS BinderWorks system is ready to include the new SDSs, Pictograms, Hazard Statements, Precautionary Statements and Signal Words.
- MSDS-to-SDS Conversion Tracking (GHS)
HazCom 2012 requires all manufacturers to convert their product Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) to the standardized 16-section GHS Safety Data Sheet (SDS) format. Manufacturers are required to complete this conversion and make SDSs available to customers by June 1, 2015. Aside from training employees on the updated standard, tracking the conversion from MSDS to SDS will be one of the most difficult and time consuming elements for employers. Let us help you with this. Our system tracks how many of your MSDSs have been converted to the new SDS format and provides a real-time conversion percentage on the subscriber dashboard each time you log in.
+Electronic & Hardcopy Inventories
- Digital Download of Inventories
Download copies of your entire inventory to your hard drive for various uses.
- In-House Binder Printing
Need an organized hardcopy version of your SDS inventory? This function allows you to print your inventory in one easy step.
- Downloadable Binder Update Kits
SDS BinderWorks tracks all SDS updates and when they were applied to your electronic inventory. To update hardcopy books, simply print an update kit from the website that will only print the newer versions of SDSs affecting your hardcopy book since its last printing.
- Hardcopy Binders
Establishing an electronic SDS inventory is easy. Maintaining an up-to-date hardcopy binder is not. In order to bridge this gap, subscribers' electronic SDS inventories can be used to publish a custom hardcopy SDS binder. This function has become the cornerstone of the SDS BinderWorks system since many SDS management companies only provide electronic SDS management capabilities and there are still occasions whereby an organized, updatable hardcopy SDS binder is preferred.
- Stay Organized Indexing System
Each SDS contained in the SDS BinderWorks database is assigned a control number that appears in the upper right-hand corner. This control number provides a vital function when adding SDSs to an existing hardcopy binder. In short, this indexing system allows the user to maintain a binder that remains organized despite new and updated SDSs being inserted on a regular basis.
- SDS Inventory Integration With Other Subscribers
Does your company hire companies to perform work on your jobsite or in your facility? As the controlling employer, do you require them to provide you with a copy of their SDS binder? If the company you hired is a subscriber to SDS BinderWorks, with their permission we can integrate their SDS inventory with your account to economically and efficiently streamline the SDS sharing process.
